Heartland Habitat for Humanity and Other Affiliates Rally Around Recovery Effort
When a 7.0 earthquake rocked Haiti on Wednesday, January 13, it brought the eyes of the world upon the tragedy of poverty and living conditions in third-world countries. Aid began pouring in from numerous organizations, including Habitat for Humanity International. Heartland Habitat for Humanity invites you to join in supporting the efforts of Habitat for Humanity International in Haiti's recovery efforts.
Habitat for Humanity International has had a presence in Haiti for 26 years, during which time the organization has provided more than 2,000 families with housing solutions. With much of Port-au-Prince destroyed and an estimated 3 million people affected by the disaster, Habitat for Humanity's work in Haiti is needed more than ever.
"Heartland Habitat is working hard in the Kansas City area to address the housing needs of low-income families, but our minds are never far from the reality that we're part of a much larger effort to address poverty worldwide," said Tom Lally, Executive Director of Heartland Habitat for Humanity. "During this time, our thoughts and prayers are with the people of Haiti and our fellow Habitat workers in that region."
