Heartland Habitat for Humanity has received $100,000 from Humana's Kansas City Benefits grant competition in support of Heartland Habitat ReStore's efforts to keep usable building materials, appliances, furniture and fixtures out of local landfills. The grant will be used to help ReStore launch a donation drop-off center in Johnson County. Heartland Habitat for Humanity was one of just three local non-profit finalists in the $100,000 annual grant competition.
"This is such an honor," said Tom Lally, Executive Director. "We're so very appreciative of Humana's support of our mission and look forward to the tremendous impact their investment will have on Heartland Habitat ReStore's efforts."
This is the third year for Humana's Kansas City Benefits Program, which was created as an outgrowth of Humana's commitment as a corporate citizen of the Kansas City metropolitan area. The program is designed to provide a one-time infusion of funds to help local nonprofit organizations more effectively fulfill their mission of service to the people of Kansas City.
