North Kansas City Students Gain Valuable Experience Through Volunteerism

Heartland Habitat for Humanity and the North Kansas City School District will partner during the 2009-2010 school year to teach trade students construction skills. With land donated by the North Kansas City School District, students from the district's trades and industries school will participate in building a Habitat home for a deserving family. The build kicks off in September at the 3500 block of NE 82nd Terrace in Kansas City, MO.

"It's a great example of community partnership," said Tom Lally, Executive Director. "The students learn marketable skills while helping to build an affordable home in a great community for a wonderful family."

Events that help build better futures

To help place low-income families in affordable homes, Heartland Habitat for Humanity must always be in a fund-raising mode. It’s one big reason why we sponsor special events year-round. They also provide us with the opportunity to publicly honor donors and volunteers who are so critical to our mission.
