Women Build

No Boys Allowed (They’d only slow us down.)

Women Build, initiated by Habitat for Humanity International, encourages women to be the primary volunteer source for a local home build. The project empowers women to create change in every neighborhood across the nation. The goal? Address the crisis of children in poverty by building homes with families in need.

Nationally, women make up 50 percent of Habitat’s volunteer force, yet women account for only 15 percent of volunteers actively doing construction. Volunteers of all skill levels are encouraged to get involved. More than 800 homes have been built by crews of women nationwide. Put your skills to use by participating in Heartland Habitat for Humanity’s Women Build.

Who can volunteer?

Women 16 years and above are invited to come see what it’s like to build a house with all women volunteers. You do NOT need experience in construction. Heartland Habitat for Humanity will provide training. Men are not excluded from volunteering. For more information about volunteering, contact Vanessa Little at vanessa@heartlandhabitat.org or (913) 342-3047 or register online

Events that help build better futures

To help place low-income families in affordable homes, Heartland Habitat for Humanity must always be in a fund-raising mode. It’s one big reason why we sponsor special events year-round. They also provide us with the opportunity to publicly honor donors and volunteers who are so critical to our mission.
